Instructions for Participants
Please ensure you have completed the following upon registration:
- Reviewed the Study Information Letter
- Reviewed and signed the Consent Form
- Reviewed and signed the Consent to Use of Image (optional)
- Completed the Demographics Form
- Obtained a name tag/ID
- Obtain a personalized OSCE schedule
OSCE Procedures
- Sit outside the designated classroom and wait for the bell to signal when you can start reading the vignette.
- You will be given five minutes to read and familiarize yourself with the vignette. You can make notes if you wish. A bell will signal the end of the five minutes.
- Once you enter the room, the OSCE will begin immediately. The standardized actor and OSCE rater will be present in the room. You will engage in a 15-minutes session with the standardized actor. There will be a bell at the 13-minute mark to signal 2 minutes remaining. There will be a bell at 15-minutes to conclude the session.
- The standardized actor and OSCE rater will have 5 minutes to give verbal feedback to you. There will be another bell to signal the end of the feedback time.
- Once the feedback is done, you will go to the computer lab to complete the reflection scale. There will be staff to help guide you to the computer lab in Room #. You will have 25 minutes to complete the reflection.
- The completion of the reflection scale is the end of the first OSCE station. You will have 5 minutes to rest and find the designated classroom for the start of the next OSCE station.
- You will complete a total of 5 OSCE stations throughout the day, each with a different vignette/scenario.
- A lunch is available in Room # during your scheduled lunch break. To maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the research study, please refrain from discussing the OSCEs with other participants.
- If you have time between OSCE sessions, please feel free to rest and relax in Room #.
- Upon completion of all 5 OSCE stations, please return to Room # to sign-out.
- You will receive your honorarium by email.
